Will Hair Loss Grow Back?

Will Hair Loss Grow Back?

In short, the answer is yes (especially with growth, the hair oil by eleganza *wink* *wink*). However, it is not as simple as that, obviously; otherwise you probably wouldn’t be reading this article?

Now if you’re completely bald, like 0 hair follicles, can’t see nothing, just skin - it is too late. The only thing that you can do is pray or maybe a hair transplant.

However, if you have fine hairs, or you’re just starting to thin, you can do a lot about this.

From the scientific research done, being bald is basically a choice at this point for as long you do something about your thinning hair, the moment you find out.

To answer the question at the top, we must look at a couple of things:

- What causes hair loss?

- Which ingredients grow hair (backed with scientific research)?

What causes hair loss?

Hair loss can have various causes, including:

Genetics: The most common cause of hair loss is hereditary hair loss, which is known as male-pattern baldness or female-pattern baldness. This condition is typically caused by a combination of genetics, hormonal factors, and aging.

Hormonal Changes: Hormonal changes due to pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, or thyroid problems can lead to temporary or permanent hair loss.

Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions such as alopecia areata (an autoimmune disease that attacks hair follicles), scalp infections, and trichotillomania (a psychological disorder causing people to pull out their hair) can cause hair loss.

Medications: Some medications, such as those used for cancer, arthritis, depression, heart problems, and high blood pressure, can cause hair loss as a side effect.

Stress: Emotional or physical stress can lead to temporary hair loss. This type of hair loss is usually temporary and the hair usually grows back after the stress is relieved.

Nutritional Deficiencies: Deficiencies in certain nutrients like iron, protein, zinc, and vitamins A, B, C, and D can contribute to hair loss.

Hairstyling Habits: Excessive hairstyling or treatments that involve harsh chemicals or heat can damage the hair and lead to hair loss.

Poor Scalp Health: Conditions such as dandruff, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis can affect the health of the scalp and contribute to hair loss.

Environmental Factors: Exposure to pollutants, UV radiation, and other environmental factors can damage the hair and scalp, leading to hair loss over time.

So as we can see, there are a lot of contributing factors, knowing which one it is, is essential to doing something about it. The main one is Genetics, but it is hard to see because most people are extremely unhealthy, so it could be that genetics may be the main one, however, it is accelerated by stress & nutritional deficiencies (for example).

My brother is balding, and I have a full head of hair, he doesn’t take care of himself, he eats really bad, smokes quite a bit etc and I am the complete opposite to that. Now, we both may have genetic implications that cause hair loss, but he may have accelerated his due to the bad habits that he indulges in. I eat very well, keep my stress levels low, exercise everyday, oil my hair etc. Those lifestyle habits make a difference.

Which Ingredients Grow Hair?

There are so many traditional ingredients that help with hair growth, the Indians (who arguably have the best hair) use oils like Amla, Bhingraj & Castor. The Moroccans use the world renowned Argan Oil, the Japanese use Rice Water; Jamaicans use Castor - There are so many traditional methods of hair growth, but we’re not going to focus on those.

We are going to focus on Scientifically backed ingredients. Now, the main two that are known are Finasteride and Minoxidil. Both are proven to regrow hair but both have notoriously well know & well documented side effects. These include: Sexual side effects like erectile dysfunction, Breast Tenderness, Mood Swings due to hormonal changes, Dandruff due to creating a dry scalp, Testicular Pain & Skin Rash.

Here are a list of Scientifically proven natural ingredients that will regrow your hair:

Peppermint Oil:

In a study done by Toxicological Research in December of 2014, titled: ‘Peppermint Oil Promotes Hair Growth without Toxic Signs’ - The conclusion found was that by week 2, Peppermint Oil promoted more hair growth than Minoxidil and continued doing so over the course of the study.

No need for all those side effects, Peppermint Oil is king here. However, it is important to know that Peppermint Oil needs to be diluted properly and perfectly. Peppermint oil on its own is extremely potent and can cause burns. We have a hair oil called growth, in that hair oil we have perfected the amount of peppermint oil to use for optimal hair growth and scalp health. You can find it here.

Rosemary Oil:

In a research study published in February of 2015 titled: ‘Rosemary Oil vs Minoxidil 2% for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia: A randomised comparative trial’ - The conclusion found was that after 6 months of use, both Rosemary Oil and Minoxidil 2% saw the same amount of increased hair count on participants of the trial.

Rosemary oil helps promote hair growth and improve overall hair health through several mechanisms:

Improved blood circulation: Rosemary oil contains compounds that have been shown to stimulate blood circulation when applied to the scalp. Better blood flow can deliver more nutrients and oxygen to the hair follicles, promoting healthier hair growth.

Stimulation of hair follicles: Rosemary oil has been found to promote the proliferation of dermal papilla cells, which play a crucial role in hair follicle formation and growth. By stimulating the hair follicles, rosemary oil may help promote hair growth and prevent hair loss.

DHT-blocking properties: Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a hormone derived from testosterone that can contribute to hair loss by shrinking hair follicles. Some research suggests that rosemary oil may help inhibit the activity of 5-alpha-reductase, the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into DHT. By reducing DHT levels, rosemary oil may help prevent hair loss and promote hair growth.

Antioxidant effects: Rosemary oil contains antioxidants that help protect the scalp and hair follicles from oxidative stress caused by free radicals. This antioxidant protection may help maintain the health of the hair follicles and support hair growth.

Anti-inflammatory properties: Inflammation of the scalp can disrupt the hair growth cycle and contribute to hair loss. Rosemary oil has anti-inflammatory properties that may help soothe and calm the scalp, reducing scalp irritation and inflammation and creating a healthier environment for hair follicles to thrive.

Again, it is important to know that Rosemary Oil needs to be carefully diluted, do not apply raw rosemary oil on your head. We have a hair oil called growth, in that hair oil we have perfected the amount of Rosemary Oil to use for optimal hair growth and scalp health. You can find it here.

Caffeine:

Caffeine is a potent inhibitor of PDE. By being a potent PDE inhibitor, it indirectly stimulates IGF 1 which causes an increase in hair growth. In more non scientific terms, it helps stimulate hair follicles and grow hair.

Stimulation of hair follicles: Caffeine has been shown to stimulate hair follicles when applied topically to the scalp. This stimulation can lead to increased hair growth and thicker hair strands.

Prolongation of the anagen (growth) phase: Caffeine has been found to prolong the anagen phase of the hair growth cycle. This means that hair follicles remain in the active growth phase for a longer period, resulting in increased hair growth and overall hair density.

Inhibition of DHT: Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a hormone derived from testosterone that can contribute to hair loss by shrinking hair follicles. Some research suggests that caffeine may help inhibit the effects of DHT on the hair follicles, potentially reducing hair loss and promoting hair growth.

Improved blood circulation: Caffeine has vasodilating properties, meaning it can widen blood vessels and improve blood flow when applied to the scalp. Better blood circulation to the hair follicles can deliver more nutrients and oxygen, promoting healthier hair growth.

Antioxidant activity: Caffeine is a potent antioxidant that helps protect the scalp and hair follicles from oxidative stress caused by free radicals. This antioxidant protection may help maintain the health of the hair follicles and support hair growth.

Surprise surprise, we have caffeine in our hair oil. Linked here.
